Volkswagen Golf Plus SE 2.0 TDI
Inside, the cabin layout has changed little, but slight tweaks and improvements to the quality of materials are welcome, giving the Golf Plus a sturdy and robust feel. The chunky new steering wheel borrowed from the hatchback is neatly styled and great to hold.
There's plenty of adjustment too, and that, combined with the supportive front seats, makes it easy to find a comfortable driving position.
Generous amounts of headroom and roomy rear seats make the Golf Plus feel like a Tardis inside. The rear seats even slide forward and back, should you need to carry a longer load.
One of the standard specification highlights is park assist, which features automated steering when attempting parallel parking manoeuvres, couple with front and rear parking sensors. It was a marvel to experience – the car takes care of the steering while the driver controls the throttle and brakes. Volkswagen claims that the park assisted Golf Plus can squeeze into spaces just 1.1 metres longer than the total length of the car, which is no mean feat.
Other standard equiptment includes cruise control, 16-inch alloy wheels, auto headlights, rain sensors and an automatic dimming rear view mirror.
