This Polo is the safest Polo ever, achieving the maximum 5-star rating in the new, tougher crash tests carried out by Euro NCAP (the independent body that assesses the safety of new cars).
Who are Euro NCAP and what do they do?
The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) provides consumers with a realistic and independent assessment of the safety performance of cars sold in Europe. It is backed by 7 European Governments, the European Commission and motoring and consumer organisations in every EU country. Euro NCAP carries out thorough and tough crash tests on new cars to find out just how safe they are.
How did we perform?
They discovered that we built the Polo with your protection as a priority and awarded it their highest safety rating of 5 stars. This is made up of scores in four areas: occupant protection, child safety, pedestrian safety and electronic safety and assistance systems. The overall score is calculated by weighing the four scores with respect to each other, while making sure that no one area is underachieving.
There is also a new test for whiplash neck injury protection in rear impact. Euro NCAP now rewards not only seatbelt reminders, but and the standard fitment of electronic stability control such as ESP in the Polo.
