VW has got it right first time with the Tiguan
The petrol engine is a 1.4 litre TSI, but don't be fooled by a pint-sized capacity.
The Tiguan represents a remarkably well-rounded vehicle
Volkswagen's new Tiguan has much to offer, especially in special Escape trim

There's a supercharger for greater low-down punch and a turbo to boost top-end power. The result is an almost diesel-like drive at low revs but with petrol-style zip higher up the rev range. Fuel economy isn't bad, either, with 33.6mpg on the combined cycle. The 2.0 litre diesel sounds a little gruff, but there's enough sound deadening to keep the noise in the background, and it's quiet at a steady cruise. Wind and road noise are minimal by 4x4 standards too.
