A warm welcome to L J Sheppard, part of the Vindis Group, located in the heart of Bishop's Stortford, just off Junction 8 of the M11. L J Sheppard's origins date back to the 1920's when business commenced on the Dane Street site as motorcycle agents and repairers of motor vehicles. In 1969, the Company became a Volkswagen Retailer and now boasts 40 years of Brand experience.

The Vindis Group was established in 1960 by Frank Vindis, a former World War II Czech Spitfire Pilot. The first Vindis Centre was born in Sawston, Cambridgeshire and since then the business has expanded to include a total of 6 Volkswagen Centres, in addition to other Volkswagen Group Brands.

Gary and Nigel Vindis, Frank's sons, are the Joint Managing Directors of the Company; his Grandson Jamie is Operations Director; and a number of other family members have key operational roles within the business. So whilst the Company has grown, it has remained true to a simple but effective philosophy of honesty, integrity, respect and care. The team now consists of in excess of 650 employees; including a number of very long-serving and experienced people.
