With £50 borrowed from his father, Arthur Prince started in 1924. The retailer which still bears the same name is now located on a prime position in Belton Road, Loughborough. In the early days, Arthur dealt mostly in motorcycles, selling petrol over the pavement and providing free air via a foot pump.
Cars soon followed and in the late thirties the company entered the world of taxis, running a fleet of 25, the largest in the country, providing an essential lifeline for many servicemen stationed in the area during the war.
In 1975 Kel Prince, the nephew of the founder, seeking a new opportunity, made the fortunate choice of the fledgling Volkswagen franchise. Thirty five years on it has continued to prove a very fortunate decision and in the hands now of Managing Director Geoff Prince invaluably assisted by Brand Manager Becky Wagstaffe the company goes from strength to strengh, it's cars proudly bearing the legend "Family driven for 86 years".
