Four-generation family car firm still providing quality service

Crowson Motors has come a long way since it was started at Little London Service Station in 1953 by Thomas and Ray. The company now stands on a large site in Wardentree Lane where it offers the full package under Ray?s sons Paul, Ian and Mark.
Loyal customers who first bought their cars in the 1950s continue to return to Crowson?s along with their sons and daughters. Brand manager Paul puts the secret of the firm?s long history down to hard work, dedication and offering customers the right kind of service. He said: ?We look after people and have a very loyal staff.?
In the beginning Crowson?s sold cars in Little London before moving in the early 1960s to a site in Commerical Road, when they also took on the Simca and Fiat brands. As it continued to grow, Crowson?s moved to a new site in Winsover Road and soon established itself as the main Triumph and Rover dealer in town. But when these hit an alltime low, Ray decided a change was in order and in 1977 introduced Volkswagen and Audi cars to Spalding.
It was also at this point that his sons Paul and Ian joined the business and were joined five years later by Mark. Ray?s wife Monica was working hard behind the scenes with a team of dedicated staff including Robert Hall, Charles Wade, Pat Slayven and Mary Bissett-Clarke. After spotting a gap in the market and wanting to give their customers the best service, Crowson?s built its accident repair body shop in Cresswell Close, Pinchbeck, during 1987. When Winsover Road became too small for Crowson?s, it transferred operations in March 1995 its current home and concentrated on selling new Volkswagens and quality used cars. Sadly Ray passed away in 2001, aged 68, before he could see some of his grandchildren Lara (22), Jordan (21) and Becky (24) join the family firm.
Brand manager Paul said: ?I am sure that if my father was alive today he would be very proud that his grandchildren are coming into the business.?
