This year, the Volkswagen Group will be introducing the Modular Transverse Matrix – the German acronym is MQB (Modularer Querbaukasten) – for the Volkswagen, Audi, ŠKODA and SEAT brands. The MQB strategy represents a turning point in the design and production of future automobiles with transverse-mounted engines. The Modular Transverse Matrix standardises many vehicle component parameters – across brands and vehicle classes. At the same time, it offers access to new technologies.

Wolfsburg (03 November 2011). Volkswagen has successfully started the tests with the new Polo R WRC. Dr Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Volkswagen Board of Management for Technology, and the two-time World Rally Champion and Dakar winner Carlos Sainz (Spain) completed the first test kilometres in the vineyards of Veldenz near Trier, the location that normally plays host to the ADAC Rallye Deutschland, without any problems today.

Volkswagen’s Polo range now offers customers even greater value for money, thanks to the addition of a new Match model which replaces the existing SE and Moda trim levels and provides £650 worth of equipment – but with a pricetag that means it costs £215 less than those models. Prices for the Polo Match start at £11,300 (RRP ‘on the road’) for the 1.2-litre 60 PS manual version.

Not only are the highly efficient Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion and Golf BlueMotion models exempt from road tax but, as of this week, they are also exempt from the London Congestion Charge.*

Volkswagen has unveiled the new Polo commercial ‘Last Tango in Compton’, from DDB UK and award winning director Jonathan Glazer (of Guinness Surfer and Sony Paint) from Academy Films. The ad was first shown on 10th November and will be shown until 15th December.
