V10 Engine

Experience the power of the V10 engine

With its internationally acclaimed efficiency, environmental credentials, refinement and on-the-road performance, the V10 TDI is a triumph of technology. In fact, it is one of the most powerful diesel car engines in the world, epitomising the success of the modern day diesel.

The engine combines stunning performance with impressive economy for an engine of its size. Available on Volkswagen's Touareg, the 5.0-litre 10 cylinder 313 PS unit, producing 750Nm at 2000 rpm, was named International Engine of the Year 2003 and 2004 in the over 4.0-litre category. In keeping with its commitment to the environment, the engine comes with a diesel particulate filter as standard.

The V10 also boasts an exceptional consumption to performance ratio. It is built with a six-speed automatic Tiptronic transmission, which enables the Touareg V10 TDI to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 7.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 140mph (where the law permits) along with a combined fuel economy figure of 23.0mpg.

It also uses the same Pumpe Duse unit injector as the majority of Volkswagen's other TDI models. This enables a low friction drive combined with a high injection pressure for a better fuel and air mix, leading to a cleaner more efficient fuel consumption.
