The Touareg: a great shipmate

The advanced range of diesel and petrol engines - ranging from the 2.5 TDI through to the immensely powerful V10 TDI - provide the torque required to pull loads of up to 3.5 tonnes. And fine control comes from this great 4x4's solid weight, high and low gear ratios and sophisticated traction control. That makes it the ideal car for keen sailors.

Need to launch from a tricky site? The Touareg can climb slopes of 45 degrees and ford water up to half a metre deep (rising to 580mm with optional air suspension). The hill start assistant is a comfort-oriented aid for starting off on uphill slopes. It does not make any difference whether you want to drive forwards or in reverse. A brake in the transmission holds the vehicle on inclines. These capabilities, along with its superb on-road performance, have made the Touareg the perfect vehicle of Skandia Cowes Week.
