Leading the charge
Volkswagen and Tesco are delivering the UK’s largest charging network.
What is the charging network?
Volkswagen and Tesco want to make it easier for you to charge your electric car while you’re out. That’s why over the next three years we will be rolling out more than 2,400 EV charging bays across 600 Tesco stores. This will boost the total number of charging bays in the UK by 14%. All of the chargers will be installed by Pod Point, the UK’s largest independent public charging network operator.
Where will I be able to charge?
Finding a charging point will be easy. You’ll quickly spot them in both Tesco Extra and Superstore car parks. And with 600 stores receiving bays nationwide, you shouldn’t need to travel too far to find a Tesco where you can top up your battery.
How much will it cost?
To make charging more accessible, the 7kW fast chargers will be available free of charge. But even if you decide to use the rapid 50kW charger you'll only pay a small fee in line with the going market rate.
Over the next few years the way we drive is going to change, and Volkswagen wants to be at the forefront of the movement. By 2025 we aim to be selling one million electric vehicles a year, and in 2020 we will launch the innovative ID. Family to sit alongside the e-up! and e-Golf. This latest partnership with Tesco is just one more step on our journey towards sustainable driving.
