Electric and Hybrid Cars
Will cold weather affect the performance of my electric/hybrid car’s battery?
Your car’s battery will still work in cold weather – in fact, one of the countries with the highest rate of electric car ownership is Norway, which regularly experiences winter temperatures between -5C and -20C. But, like any battery, performance is better in warmer weather. This means you’re likely to get a greater range from each charge in warmer weather.
Other factors, such as using the heating and air conditioning, will also affect your range. You can choose a driving mode to help maximise your range – you’ll get the most miles from Eco+ mode.
