Electric and Hybrid Cars
Why do I not get the quoted mpg?
The quoted figure for miles per gallon (mpg) is calculated during the NEDC’s tests. It’s carried out by independent reviewers from the VCA (part of the Department for Transport). The test uses a standardised set of driving conditions, which means that figures are comparable across vehicles. However, conditions in the real world such as weather, road quality and driving style are variable, and this affects the car’s mpg; this means that your actual mpg may differ.
