Electric and Hybrid Cars

Will I still pay if I’m charging my electric/hybrid car and the battery reaches 100% charge, but the car remains plugged in? Does leaving the car plugged in harm the battery?

This depends on where you’re charging.

At home, the car will stop charging when it’s full and won’t cost you any additional money in kWh.

At a public charge point, this differs depending on the supplier and the tariff. Some are time dependant (Polar Chargemaster); in this case you’ll be charged for as long as you continue to use the charge point. Some are power supply dependant (PodPoint), so you won’t be charged for electricity once charging is complete. And some are a fixed cost (Ecotricity).

Leaving the car on charge after the battery level has reached 100% will not harm the battery.
