2015 Red Dot Design Awards for Volkswagen
30 March 2015
The Volkswagen Passat, Passat Estate and Golf SV are among this year’s winners of the highly regarded international Red Dot Design Award in the Product Design category.
The models from the eighth generation of the Passat and Passat Estate series are among the most innovative cars in their segment. They also set standards when it comes to quality, comfort, driving fun and, last but not least, design. The dynamic proportions of the vehicles’ front end, with air inlets that extend out to the sides, give the new Passat a broad and powerful appearance, while the long lowered bonnet, short overhangs and long wheelbase lend the models a stylish elegance.
The Golf SV is another example of an attractive and dynamic vehicle. The defining design traits of the Golf SV include its very long side window look with two additional windows (in the area of A and D pillars) and its sharply drawn character line. The ‘MPV in the Golf line-up’ offers an extremely variable interior with a longitudinally adjustable rear bench seat. Despite its compact dimensions, the Golf SV offers ample space for five people plus luggage for long trips.
The Red Dot Design Award is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year; in the field of product design it is recognised as a seal of quality for outstanding design. The award jury is made up of renowned designers, design professors and design journalists from 25 countries including the UK, all of whom are experts in their field and completely neutral in their decision-making.
