Douglas Miller becomes Managing Director of Volkswagen (GB) Limited

Introduction:

In the spring of 1972 three directors of Volkswagen (GB) leave the company to set up the Mazda franchise in Britain and not long after this Alan Dix moves to America. Douglas Miller is appointed as Managing Director, his previous experience had been with a paint company, Bergers and Carlsberg Breweries. During the time that the Volkswagen franchise was owned by Thomas Tilling, it set-up a subsidiary company called Dovercourt to operate five dealerships.
