Or diesel You have the choice of three powerful and efficient turbocharged diesel engines, including the potent 100PS 1.9-litre TDI.
Our engine range is almost as diverse as our range of cars. It all starts with the economical 1.2-litre three-cylinder unit that powers entry-level Polo. This lightweight and compact all-aluminium unit punches out a healthy 60 PS. Despite having only 3 cylinders it as smooth as a 4-cylinder unit thanks to its internal balancer shaft. Fast and frugal The automatic Polo is available with a four cylinder 16 valve 1.4-litre, which delivers 80PS. Combining spirited performance with low fuel consumption. Polo also has 3 further petrol engines: an 80PS 1.4-litre, 105PS 1.6-litre and the barnstorming 150PS turbocharged 1.8-litre of the GTI. 3 turbocharged diesels complete the story. There are 2 versions of a 3-cylinder 1.4-litre TDI with 70 and 80PS respectively, and a potent 100PS 1.9-litre TDI.
