Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)

Helps cut your car's exhaust emissions, so is kinder to the environment.

Overview

All our engines comply with stringent emissions legislation. But we are constantly striving to make our exhaust emissions even cleaner. That's why we have started to introduce a diesel particulate filter (DPF) on some of our new engines. The DPF traps harmful pollutants produced by diesel engines before they can be released into the air through the car's exhaust. The DPF catches soot particles until a pre-determined level is reached. At this point the DPF will clean itself through a process known as DPF regeneration. This process increases the temperature within the DPF and burns off soot particles.* *Driving conditions in inner-city and the Channel Islands do not provide optimum conditions for the regeneration procedure.
