The world's first mass-produced car with a steel body, the Golf Mk V, has doors assembled by a modular system, so that in case of damage only the outer shell has to be exchanged rather than the whole door, saving time and money. 70 metres of laser-welded seams increase the rigidity of the car body. The safety chassis with high-developed strut suspension guarantees sportiness combined with improved driving comfort. The Golf Mk V is one of the first models available with a newly developed double clutch gearbox DSG.
