Activate VW Connect or We Connect
A few simple steps to connecting your car
The smart online services from VW Connect or previously We Connect make your life easier – before, during and after every trip. Here we provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to easily connect your new or used car yourself and activate the functions.
Your dealership will also be happy to take you through the initial steps and start the activation process with you before vehicle handover.
Please note that you need to have a Volkswagen ID user account and a separate contract with Volkswagen AG concerning the use of mobile online services to be able to use the various functions.
01. Download the Volkswagen app
Download the free Volkswagen app for iOS or Android.
02. Create a Volkswagen ID user account
Log in to the app using your Volkswagen ID. If you have not yet set up a Volkswagen ID, the app will take you through each step of the registration process.
03. Add vehicle
Add your vehicle to your user account in the Volkswagen app using the vehicle identification number (VIN). You will find the VIN behind the windscreen of your Volkswagen or in the registration document.
04. Activate VW Connect or We Connect
Conclude the VW Connect or We Connect contract as shown in the app, then navigate to “Connect to VW Connect/We Connect” in your infotainment system. Follow the instructions here in the app.
