Preheating the interior while you eat breakfast, listening to podcasts and discovering your new favourite stations with the Internet Radio in your vehicle. In short: We're taking digital options in your ID. to the next level. With a wide range of smart everyday tools that are also available to you from ID. Software 3.0 with We Connect and from ID. Software 4.0 with VW Connect also available depending on equipment.⁠ With the Volkswagen app, you can connect your vehicle to your smartphone effortlessly and access certain vehicle functions and the vehicle status – even when you’re not in your Volkswagen.

Additional functions in the In-Car Shop

Your ID. is well-connected. This allows you to download, activate or renew existing contracts for useful digital products straight from your car. The Volkswagen Connect shopOpens an external link and In-Car Shop on your infotainment system shows you all the available products for your ID. If a product is available for a fee, activation is possible as soon as payment is received.Simply check the data and payment details and complete the order. The new function will be available the next time you start your electric car with an Internet connection.

We Connect Start - connectivity for ID. models with ID. Software 2.4 or older

If your model doesn’t yet have ID. Software 3.0 as a minimum, you can use We Connect Start’s Online Traffic Information, entertainment and remote functions. We Connect Start⁠ connects you with your ID. and offers a wide range of useful benefits. Here’s how to find out which software version you’re currently using in your ID.:
Open the menu option “Setup” in the infotainment system of your ID.Browse to “System information”. The version of your ID. Software is shown in the section “ID. Software”.

Once the Volkswagen ID user account has been successfully set up and linked to your vehicle, you can use the vehicle-, country-, software- and equipment-specific digital services for an initial contract period free of charge. For this purpose, a separate VW Connect / VW Connect Plus or We Connect / We Connect Plus contract must be concluded with Volkswagen AG online at www.myvolkswagen.net or via the “Volkswagen” app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store). The actual length of the free contract period depends on when you activate the digital services. From the ninetieth day after initial delivery at the latest, the free initial contract period will begin to reduce automatically. You can view the exact contract period for your specific vehicle on myVolkswagen www.myvolkswagen.net. For customers with VW Connect and VW Connect Plus: The use of mobile online services is enabled by means of an integrated Internet connection. For the use of the Wi-Fi hotspot, data plans can be purchased from the external mobile communications partner Cubic Telecom and used in the network coverage area within many European countries. The data in these plans can be used by all users and vehicle occupants. You can find information on conditions, prices and supported countries at vw.cubictelecom.com. Alternatively, you can use this service with a mobile device (e.g. smartphone) with the ability to function as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. In this case, the corresponding function of the service is only available subject to an existing or separate mobile phone contract between you and your mobile network operator and only within the coverage area of the respective mobile network. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when exchanging data on the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad. For customers with We Connect and We Connect Plus: The use of mobile online services is enabled by means of an integrated Internet connection. For the use of the streaming services, individual in-car apps and the Wi-Fi hotspot, data plans can be purchased from Cubic Telecom, our mobile communications partner, and used in the network coverage area within many European countries. The data in these plans can be used by all users and vehicle occupants. You can find information on conditions, prices and supported countries at vw.cubictelecom.com. Alternatively, you can use these services with a mobile device (e.g. smartphone) with the ability to function as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot.     VW Connect refers to the current range of digital services for new vehicles from Volkswagen and successively replaces the previous generation of mobile online services, We Connect. The term “VW Connect” will be used subsequently to represent both systems.     Some We Connect / We Connect Plus or VW Connect / VW Connect Plus mobile online services can only be used via the “Volkswagen” app. A smartphone with a suitable iOS or Android operating system and SIM card with data option with an existing mobile data contract or one to be agreed separately between you and your mobile data provider is required to use the free app. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when exchanging data on the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad.  

    The mobile online services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes during the contract period. The services included in the We Connect and We Connect Plus or VW Connect and VW Connect Plus packages may vary by country. Availability also depends on vehicle model, equipment and software version installed. This also applies to third-party services. More information is available at https://connect.volkswagen.com and your Volkswagen dealership. Please also take note of the current Terms and Conditions for the digital services of the ID. family.

    To use the “Live Recommendations” service, you need a Volkswagen ID user account and a separate VW Connect contract to be concluded online at www.myvolkswagen.net or via the “Volkswagen” app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store) with Volkswagen AG. Identification as the primary user is also required. Live Recommendations can be used by all drivers and cannot be transferred to other vehicles. More information is available at connect.volkswagen.com and your authorised Volkswagen repairer.

    The AirConsole provider and contractual partner is N-Dream AG. The use of AirConsole is in accordance with the legal provisions of N-Dream AG. Volkswagen bears no responsibility for the content of AirConsole and exclusively technically enables access to AirConsole. Data protection information can be found in the VW Connect Privacy Policy.

    To obtain Upgrades, you need a Volkswagen ID user account, a valid VW Connect / We Connect contract and your primary user verification, i.e. the link between your user account and the specific vehicle. Your vehicle also needs to have the technical function, hardware and software required for the relevant Upgrade. The availability of Upgrades may also depend on the model year and production date. The upgrades available for the specific vehicle can be viewed by the primary user depending on the model in the infotainment system In-Car Shop or the Volkswagen Connect Shop at https://connect-shop.volkswagen.com. Paid-for products can be purchased in the In-Car Shop and/or the Volkswagen Connect shop with the payment methods that are currently available and can be viewed there. The availability of Upgrades functions may vary between the web shop and In-Car Shop. Your Volkswagen dealership is also happy to advise on questions regarding Upgrades and their availability. Purchased and activated Upgrades remain with the vehicle for the duration of the activation period, can be used by all drivers and cannot be transferred to other vehicles.

To use the We Connect Start services, you need a Volkswagen ID user account and need to log in with your username and password. Once the Volkswagen ID user account has been successfully set up and linked to your vehicle, you can use the vehicle-, country-, software- and equipment-specific digital services for an initial contract period free of charge. For this purpose, a separate We Connect Start contract must be concluded with Volkswagen AG online at www.myvolkswagen.net or via the “Volkswagen” app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store). The actual length of the free contract period depends on when you activate the digital services. From the ninetieth day after initial delivery at the latest, the free initial contract period will begin to reduce automatically. You can view the exact contract period for your specific vehicle on myVolkswagen www.myvolkswagen.net. The use of We Connect Start mobile online services is enabled by means of an integrated internet connection. Volkswagen AG will be liable for the associated data costs incurred within Europe under network coverage. A smartphone with a suitable iOS or Android operating system and SIM card with data option with an existing mobile data contract or one to be agreed separately between you and your mobile data provider is required to use the free Volkswagen app. The availability of the individual services described in the packages may differ between countries. The services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes during the contract period. More information is available at connect.volkswagen.com and your Volkswagen dealership. For information on mobile data charges, please consult your mobile data provider.
