We Connect Start - connectivity for ID. models with ID. Software 2.4 or older

If your model doesn’t yet have ID. Software 3.0 as a minimum, you can use We Connect Start’s Online Traffic Information, entertainment and remote functions. We Connect Start5 connects you with your ID. and offers a wide range of useful benefits. Here’s how to find out which software version you’re currently using in your ID.:
Open the menu option “Setup” in the infotainment system of your ID.Browse to “System information”. The version of your ID. Software is shown in the section “ID. Software”. 

Additional functions in the In-Car Shop

Your ID. is well-connected. This allows you to download, activate or renew existing contracts for useful digital products straight from your car. The Volkswagen Connect shopOpens an external link and In-Car Shop on your infotainment system shows you all the available products for your ID. If a product is available for a fee, activation is possible as soon as payment is received.Simply check the data and payment details and complete the order. The new function will be available the next time you start your electric car with an Internet connection.

To use the VW Connect and VW Connect Plus or We Connect and We Connect Plus services for the ID. family, you need a Volkswagen ID user account and need to log into VW Connect / VW Connect Plus or We Connect / We Connect Plus with your username and password. A separate VW Connect / VW Connect Plus or We Connect / We Connect Plus contract must also be concluded online with Volkswagen AG. After vehicle handover you have 90 days in which to register the vehicle at myvolkswagen.net or via the Volkswagen” app and app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store) and use the VW Connect Plus / We Connect Plus services for the full duration of the agreed initial free period. If you register at a later date, the duration of the initial period will be reduced accordingly. You can view the exact period during the activation process or following activation on myvolkswagen.net. When the initial VW Connect Plus / We Connect Plus contract period has expired, this may be renewed for a fee.  Some VW Connect / VW Connect Plus or We Connect / We Connect Plus mobile online services can only be used via the Volkswagen” app. A smartphone with a suitable iOS or Android operating system and SIM card with data option with an existing mobile data contract or one to be agreed separately between you and your mobile data provider is required to use the free app. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when exchanging data on the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad.  The mobile online services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes during the contract period. The services included in the VW Connect and VW Connect Plus or We Connect and We Connect Plus packages may vary by country. Availability also depends on vehicle model, equipment and software version installed. This also applies to third-party services. The specified consumption and emissions values were obtained using the legally required measurement procedure. On 1 January 2022, the WLTP test cycle fully replaced the NEDC test cycle. Accordingly, no NEDC values are available for new type-approved vehicles after this date. Figures are not based on a single individual vehicle and are not part of the offer, but serve solely to facilitate comparisons between different types of vehicles. Additional equipment and accessories (attachments, tyre format, etc.) could change relevant vehicle parameters, such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics. As well as weather and traffic conditions and personal driving style, these add-ons could also affect a vehicle’s fuel consumption, power consumption, CO2 emissions and performance. Due to the more realistic testing conditions, the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions values measured according to the WLTP are often higher than those measured under the NEDC. This may result in corresponding changes in vehicle taxation as of 1 September 2018. Values determined in accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). The span of ranges for the equipment versions of a model is based on test roller measurements. In practice, the actual range varies depending on factors including driving style, speed, use of convenience/auxiliary equipment, outside temperature, number of passengers/additional load, topography and the battery's age and wear process.

To use the We Connect Start services, you need a Volkswagen ID user account and to log in to We Connect Start with your username and password. A separate We Connect Start contract must also be concluded online with Volkswagen AG. After vehicle handover you have 90 days in which to register the vehicle via the Volkswagen app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store) and use the We Connect Start services for the full duration of the agreed free period. The use of We Connect Start mobile online services is enabled by means of an integrated internet connection. Volkswagen AG will be liable for the associated data costs incurred within Europe, with the exception of the Internet Radio and Wi-Fi hotspot services. For the use of the Internet Radio and Wi-Fi hotspot services, data packages can be purchased from Cubic Telecom, our mobile communications partner, and used in the network coverage area within many European countries. You can find information on prices and supported countries at https://vw.cubictelecom.com. Alternatively, you can use the “Internet Radio” service and the “Wi-Fi hotspot” with a mobile device (e.g. smartphone), provided it has the ability to function as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. In this case, the corresponding services are only available subject to an existing or separate mobile phone contract between you and your mobile network operator and only within the coverage area of the respective mobile network. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when exchanging data over the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad.  A smartphone with a suitable iOS or Android operating system and SIM card with data option with an existing mobile data contract or one to be agreed separately between you and your mobile data provider is required to use the free Volkswagen app.  The availability of the individual services described in the packages may differ depending on equipment, vehicle and country. The services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes during the contract period. To obtain upgrades, you need a Volkswagen ID user account, a valid VW Connect / We Connect contract and your primary user verification, i.e. the link between your user account and the specific vehicle. Your vehicle also needs to have the technical function, hardware and software required for the relevant upgrade. The availability of upgrades may also depend on the model year and production date. The upgrades available for the specific vehicle can be viewed by the primary user in the infotainment system In-Car Shop or the Volkswagen Connect web shop at connect-shop.volkswagen.com. Paid-for products can be purchased in the In-Car Shop and/or the Volkswagen Connect shop with the payment methods that are currently available and can be viewed there. The availability of upgrades functions may vary between the web shop and In-Car Shop. Your Volkswagen dealership is also happy to advise on questions regarding upgrades and their availability. Purchased and activated upgrades remain with the vehicle for the duration of the activation period, can be used by all drivers and cannot be transferred to other vehicles.
