With VW Connect or previously We Connect⁠, you can take advantage of many different services that make your everyday life easier through the Volkswagen app, the myVolkswagen customer portal or straight from your vehicle.

The availability of the services is country-specific and may vary according to model, model year and equipment.

Basic functions in your ID. 

Basic functions such as the Emergency Call Service, the Wi-Fi hotspot or the Digital Manual are available in your ID. from the very beginning without registration. Conclusion of a separate VW Connect contract is required for updates.

VW Connect – Your introduction to online services

VW Connect is the direct link to your ID. offering you everyday assistance with many digital services which you can access free of charge following one-time activation. Usage of these free services requires you to sign up online to a separate VW Connect contract with Volkswagen AG.

VW Connect Plus – The whole world of online services

Activating VW Connect Plus enhances your ID.’s digital offering with more useful services – from smart navigation to remote functions for remote control via smartphone.

Usage of these services requires you to sign up online to a separate VW Connect Plus contract with Volkswagen AG.⁠

Our ID. models are ready for connectivity as standard with a permanently installed SIM card. For new vehicles, VW Connect is available to you free of charge for an initial period of 10 years. VW Connect Plus can be extended following expiry of the free initial contract period of two years (from initial delivery) via the In-Car Shop of your infotainment system or via the Volkswagen Connect ShopOpens an external link.

In-Car Apps for your ID. 

Use the We Charge charging service in your car or play retro games while your electric car is charging: With your Volkswagen ID and a VW Connect activation, you can add lots of apps to the digital offering for your ID. Simply download them from the In-Car Shop in your infotainment system from Software 3.0 onwards. This includes the Vehicle Service app, which you can use to contact your preferred authorised workshop.

To use the VW Connect (Plus), We Connect (Plus) or VW Connect (Basic / Navigation) services, you must have a Volkswagen ID user account and need to log in with your username and password. Once the Volkswagen ID user account has been successfully set up and linked to your vehicle, you can use the vehicle-, country-, software- and equipment-specific digital services for an initial contract period free of charge. For this purpose, a separate VW Connect (Plus), We Connect (Plus) or VW Connect (Basic / Navigation) contract must be concluded with Volkswagen AG online at https://www.myvolkswagen.net or via the “Volkswagen” app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store). The actual length of the free contract period depends on when you activate the digital services. From the ninetieth day after initial delivery at the latest, the free initial contract period will begin to reduce automatically. You can view the exact contract period for your specific vehicle on myVolkswagen https://www.myvolkswagen.net.

Some We Connect / We Connect Plus or VW Connect / VW Connect Plus mobile online services can only be used via the “Volkswagen” app. A smartphone with a suitable iOS or Android operating system and SIM card with data option with an existing mobile data contract or one to be agreed separately between you and your mobile data provider is required to use the free app. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when exchanging data on the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad.  

The mobile online services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes during the contract period. The services included in the We Connect and We Connect Plus or VW Connect and VW Connect Plus packages may vary by country. Availability also depends on vehicle model, equipment and software version installed. This also applies to third-party services. More information is available at https://connect.volkswagen.com and your Volkswagen dealership. Please also take note of the current Terms and Conditions for the digital services of the ID. family.

VW Connect refers to the current range of digital services for new vehicles from Volkswagen and successively replaces the previous generation of mobile online services, We Connect. The term “VW Connect” will be used subsequently to represent both systems. The AirConsole provider and contractual partner is N-Dream AG. The use of AirConsole is in accordance with the legal provisions of N-Dream AG. Volkswagen bears no responsibility for the content of AirConsole and exclusively technically enables access to AirConsole. Data protection information can be found in the VW Connect Privacy Policy.

To obtain Upgrades, you need a Volkswagen ID user account, a valid VW Connect / We Connect contract and your primary user verification, i.e. the link between your user account and the specific vehicle. Your vehicle also needs to have the technical function, hardware and software required for the relevant Upgrade. The availability of Upgrades may also depend on the model year and production date. The upgrades available for the specific vehicle can be viewed by the primary user depending on the model in the infotainment system In-Car Shop or the Volkswagen Connect Shop at https://connect-shop.volkswagen.com. Paid-for products can be purchased in the In-Car Shop and/or the Volkswagen Connect shop with the payment methods that are currently available and can be viewed there. The availability of Upgrades functions may vary between the web shop and In-Car Shop. Your Volkswagen dealership is also happy to advise on questions regarding Upgrades and their availability. Purchased and activated Upgrades remain with the vehicle for the duration of the activation period, can be used by all drivers and cannot be transferred to other vehicles.
